Appian

Appian is a global leader in the enterprise technology market, enjoying rapid growth in the Northern Virginia area. It signed a 12-year lease for 200,000 rsf of space at 7950 Jones Branch Drive, Tysons, VA, creating 600 new jobs in the process. The new office space comprised 8 floors of space in the North Tower, all linked by a monumental interconnecting staircase. Appian leaders wanted to deviate from an enclosed, confined office to an open setting that allowed for better communication and collaboration. However, they needed the design to maintain a sense of privacy in personal workspace areas. Assuring the design fit the firm’s need of a collaborative working space the final design included touch down areas and huddle rooms, keeping with a residential feel and bold branding. Unique finishes were selected including a decorative concrete wall running the full height of the new staircase and the design included a top-floor atrium with mezzanine level. Amenities surrounding the headquarters also helped spark the inspiration for design.  Fletcher Consulting was an integral part of the project management team for what was a challenging, but rewarding, project.
