As a member of the development and construction management team, firm Principal, Mark Fletcher, played a role in delivering Gallery Place, a one‑million‑square‑foot mixed‑use destination that reshaped the East End of Washington, DC. This project integrates destination retail, Class A office space, 192 residential condominiums, and 4 levels of underground parking, all positioned above the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Station and adjacent to Capital One Arena—making it one of the most prominent urban hubs in the city.
This project required complex coordination efforts to bring the project to life, supporting property assemblage, entitlement strategy, and stakeholder alignment across multiple public and private entities. This included working with neighborhood associations, the DC government, and WMATA, as well as navigating the extensive logistical challenges associated with excavation, alley closures, and construction atop active transit infrastructure.
He also supported the primary developer’s implementation of the District’s first-ever Tax Increment Financing (TIF) package for a private development—an effort that required careful financial planning, legislative coordination, and alignment among diverse funding partners.
Gallery Place quickly became a model for successful large-scale urban renewal and was a catalyst for the revitalization of downtown Washington. The project has been recognized with multiple awards for its design quality, economic impact, and contribution to the vibrancy of the East End.
